MUSICLESSONSOURCE.COM is a site offering LIVE, REAL TIME musical instruction, over the internet using easily available webcams and video-conferencing software. Our goal is to offer quality music lessons over the net to anyone with a computer, regardless of location. For the first time, high quality instruction is available using the computer you already own.Is it as good as physically being in the same room as your instructor?...maybe not, but it's a lot better than NO INSTRUCTOR AT ALL!.

I have been playing and teaching guitar, mandolin and banjo since the folk boom of the 60's, and have played professionally in Bluegrass and Jug Bands, Blues Bands, and even a little Rock and Roll. I have, over the years, developed my own effective methods for explaining how to play these instruments and guiding students in positive musical directions.

All the free lessons in the world won't correct bad technique, or tailor lessons to your particular problem area, or show you how that really tricky stuff is played. They won't put you in the same room as your instructor. They won't let you ask questions or have the shortcuts demonstrated to you. Free Lessons don't show you how to improvise, or show how your instrument fits into an ensemble, or how to apply the techniques you are learning to other songs.Most of all, having a weekly scheduled lesson is a terrific motivation for adhering to a practice schedule. (Sorry, but no matter how good the instruction, you won't improve unless you PRACTICE). All those free lessons are actually designed to sell you something, and unless you already have the technique, knowledge of the scales, chords, and fingering they won't do you much good.

Lessons are $30 per half hour or $50 per hour. Now you can receive personal, private lessons in your own home without the added time and costs of travelling

Not at all. If you already own a webcam of any type, it will work fine. If not we offer a complete starter pack with instructions to get you going right out of the box. You don't need a high speed connection or computer either, although they help. We realize that someone seeking to play an acoustic instrument may not be TOO computer proficient so we have made this whole process as simple as possible. It hasn't stumped anyone yet!

We will intially contact you and work out a schedule of lessons for you. Payment can be made via your credit card using the Paypal system (very secure and easy to use ). When it is time for your lesson you will click in our website address and we will make a  one-to-one connection with you. We will then have total two way communication, almost as if we were physically together (if you want to wear your PJ's we promise not to look). It is amazing how quickly you will adapt to this new method of learning. All of our instruction techniques have been tailored to this way of teaching after much trial and error.

1. I can't get to a qualified instructor because. A: I don't drive. or B: there isn't one for a zillion miles, or C: I prefer learning in my pajamas or D: I can't find one.
2. I freeze up whenever I am in a FORMAL learning situation (the terrors of high school return).
